MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
-
A B Tech Degree in Emergency Medical Care
-
Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Emergency Care Practitioner
-
Valid driver’s license with a PrDP (Professional Driving Permit) for emergency vehicles
-
At least 3–5 years’ relevant experience in pre-hospital emergency medical care
-
Knowledge of Advanced Life Support (ALS) Protocols
-
Understanding of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) operations and scope of practice
-
Familiarity with Road Traffic Ordinance Regulations related to emergency vehicle operations
-
Proven ability to implement emergency procedures and critical patient interventions

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
-
Perform daily inspection, maintenance, and cleaning of the allocated emergency response vehicle to ensure operational readiness at all times
-
Wash, clean, and disinfect the interior and exterior of the emergency vehicle as per infection control guidelines
-
Conduct regular equipment and consumable checks to ensure all life support equipment is functional and stocked
-
Deliver Advanced Life Support (ALS) care and manage emergency scenes in accordance with clinical protocols and EMS policy
-
Participate in on-call and overtime shifts as per operational requirements
-
Provide supervised training and orientation to students and junior EMS staff where applicable
-
Contribute to ongoing quality assurance programs, clinical audits, and in-service training
-
Maintain accurate records of patient care and operational duties as required by departmental guidelines
