About the Role
Osindisweni District Hospital seeks an experienced Operational Manager for General Night Duty to manage nursing services during night shifts. This role ensures ethical conduct, clinical governance, and optimal patient care throughout the hospital during night time operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead nursing services during night duty, ensuring high standards of patient care
- Promote and enforce nursing ethics and professional standards
- Monitor clinical practice to ensure alignment with nursing scope and institutional policies
- Supervise night staff, addressing both clinical and non-clinical emergencies
- Uphold Batho Pele principles for compassionate and patient-centered care
- Manage human and material resources effectively during night operations
- Enforce compliance with HR and financial regulations
- Maintain clinical governance practices throughout night shifts
- Handle grievances, absenteeism, and support the disciplinary process
- Evaluate and monitor staff performance through EPMDS
Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Degree or Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery
- Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse (proof of 2023 registration required if shortlisted)
- Minimum of 7 years of nursing experience after registration as a Professional Nurse
- Proof of service and experience, endorsed by HR, is required if shortlisted

- Knowledge of Public health sector strategies and nursing priorities
- Strong leadership, clinical decision-making, and time management
