About the Role
The Department is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Deputy Director: Logistics Management to strengthen logistics, supply chain, and asset management at Head Office level. The role focuses on ensuring effective logistical systems, compliance with public sector legislation, and efficient financial and procurement processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and oversee logistics management systems, procedures, and processes in line with PFMA and Treasury Regulations.
- Develop and maintain systems to improve service turnaround times.
- Manage the creation and authorization of purchase orders in line with SCM delegations of authority.
- Ensure the integrity and effective utilisation of the LOGIS (Logistics Information System).
- Analyse LOGIS data and prepare monthly management reports.
- Manage payments for goods, services, and assets, ensuring timely capturing of invoices on LOGIS.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation measures.
- Reconcile supplier statements and ensure safekeeping of payment documentation.
- Oversee stores and warehousing functions, including deliveries, spot checks, stock control, and monthly stock evaluations.
- Manage financial reporting, including monthly payment reports, Interim Financial Statements, and Annual Financial Statements commitment, accrual, payable, and invoice reports.
Requirements
- National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Financial Management, Logistics, Purchasing Management, Supply Chain Management, or Accounting.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience at Assistant Director level in the Supply Chain Management field.
- Valid driver’s licence.
Knowledge & Competencies
- In-depth knowledge of Treasury Regulations, PFMA, SCM Framework, and public sector procurement processes.
- Strong working knowledge of LOGIS (Logistics Information System).
- Project management and team management skills.
- Budget forecasting and financial management skills.
- Strong planning, organising, and resource management abilities.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and computer literacy skills.
- Sound problem-solving, decision-making, and time management skills.
