Salary: R906,540 per annum (All-inclusive salary package)

About the Role
Itshelejuba Hospital is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced professionals for the post of Pharmacy Supervisor Grade 1. The successful candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership in delivering effective, cost-effective, and compliant pharmaceutical services, while also managing staff and contributing to quality improvement in line with national and provincial priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver accurate, efficient, and comprehensive pharmaceutical services aligned with district, provincial, and national strategies
- Develop, implement, and monitor Standard Operating Procedures for the Pharmacy Department
- Supervise and manage pharmacy staff, including pharmacists, interns, and support personnel
- Oversee the rational use and proper management of medicines and pharmaceutical assets
- Facilitate training programs and EPMDS assessments for all pharmacy staff
- CCoordinate activities of the Essential Medicines Programme, Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee, and other clinical governance structures
- Ensure compliance with procurement, storage, control, and distribution protocols for medicines
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding pharmaceutical and management matters
- Promote patient safety by ensuring prompt reporting and minimising incidents
- Provide pharmaceutical advice to patients and multi-disciplinary healthcare teams
- Compile and submit monthly financial and operational reports as required
- Deputyise for the Pharmacy Manager or Assistant Manager as needed
- Drive adherence to OHSC norms and Ideal Hospital standards
Minimum Requirements
- Senior Certificate / Matric or equivalent
- Degree or Diploma in Pharmacy, eligible for registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
- Current registration with SAPC as a Pharmacist (2025)
- Minimumum of 4 years’ post-registration experience as a Pharmacist with SAPC
- Valid driver’s license
- Working knowledge of the Rx Solution pharmaceutical system
Skills & Competencies
- In-depth understanding of Good Pharmacy Practice, Essential Drug List, and Standard TreatmentGuidelines
- Knowledge of applicable health legislation, National Drug Policy, and Public Service Regulations
- Excellent verbal and written cocommunication
- Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office
- Project management, planning, and administrative skills
- Leadership, supervisory, and team-building capabilities
- Clinical and theoretical knowledge in pharmaceutical care
- Ability to function effectively within a multidisciplinary team
