Salary: Grade 1 R906 540 – R975 738 per annum, Grade 2: R1 034 373 – R1 129 116 per annum, Grade 3: R1 197 150 – R1 491 627 per annum
Additional Benefits: All packages are all-inclusive (70% basic + 30% flexible portion), 18% Inhospitable Allowance and Committed Overtime (subject to departmental needs and a signed agreement).

About the Role
Ngwelezana Tertiary Hospital is seeking for the ICU, with opportunities for teaching and clinical development.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide patient-centred, high-quality medical care in the ICU.
- Diagnose, investigate, and manage critically ill patients.
- Participate in after-hours call and emergency ICU cover.
- Support teaching and supervision of interns and medical students.
- Attend and contribute to departmental meetings, journal clubs, and case reviews.
- Maintain complete and accurate medical records.
- Engage in administrative, research, and quality improvement activities.
- Attend training workshops and adhere to departmental and hospital policies.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the department head or supervisor.
Requirements
- Senior Certificate / Grade 12
- MBChB Degree or equivalent
- Current and valid registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Practitioner
- Grade 1 No experience for SA citizens; 1 year for foreign-qualified candidates.
- Grade 2 5 years post-registration experience (SA-qualified) and 6 years post-registration experience (foreign-qualified)
- Grade 3 10 years post-registration experience (SA-qualified) and 11 years post-registration experience (foreign-qualified)
- Experience in ICU/Critical Care
- Courses in Critical Care
- Research experience and publications
