About the Role
We are seeking a Clinical Programs Co-Coordinator to manage and oversee the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) programs at Ndedwe CHC. The successful candidate will develop, implement, and evaluate IPC plans, fostering safety and quality improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) operational plans tailored to facility needs.
- Conduct regular IPC audits and assessments, ensuring the IPC committee is effective and active.
- Monitor, investigate, and report healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and manage outbreak responses.
- Facilitate ongoing staff development through targeted IPC training, orientation, and induction programs.
- Ensure compliance with all provincial, national, and international IPC guidelines, legislation, and best practices.
- Develop, implement, and regularly update IPC policies, protocols, and standard operating procedures.
- Coordinate effective communication and collaboration on IPC matters across all departments.
- Analyze infection data and surveillance trends to drive continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Participate in external inspections and accreditation processes, ensuring IPC standards are met.
- Lead emergency preparedness activities related to infectious disease threats.
- Advise on appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE), disinfection, and sterilization techniques.
- Provide input into procurement decisions to ensure availability of IPC supplies and equipment.
Requirements
- Senior Certificate / Grade 12.
- Degree or Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery.
- Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
- A minimum of 7 years of nursing experience after SANC registration.
- At least 2 years’ experience in IPC or related clinical risk management roles (preferred).
- Certificate or formal training in Infection Prevention and Control (advantageous).
- Sound knowledge of healthcare infection risks, antimicrobial resistance, and relevant legislation.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to train, mentor, and support multidisciplinary staff teams.
- High attention to detail and a proactive approach to patient and staff safety.
