About the Role
Osindisweni District Hospital is looking for a passionate Medical Officer to provide paediatric care.
This role involves direct clinical service, emergency response, and participation in improving healthcare delivery for children at the district level.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide emergency paediatric care and perform lifesaving procedures.
- Diagnose and manage paediatric patients, referring appropriately to higher levels of care.
- Ensure delivery of quality, patient-focused healthcare.
- Participate in departmental audits, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical governance.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
- Function as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Mandatory participation in commuted overtime.
Requirements
- MBCHB or equivalent medical qualification.
- Must be currently registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an independent Medical Practitioner.
- Grade 1: No experience required post-registration with HPCSA. Foreign-qualified applicants must have at least 1 year of relevant experience and be exempt from community service.
- Grade 2 Minimum of 5 years’ experience post-registration with HPCSA (or 6 years for foreign-qualified exempted applicants)
- Grade 3 Minimum of 10 years’ experience post-registration with HPCSA (or 11 years for foreign-qualified exempted applicants)
Knowledge & Competencies
- Paediatric clinical conditions and emergency care.
- National Quality Standards for primary healthcare.
- Health policies, acts, and clinical protocols.
- Excellent clinical judgment, leadership, mentoring, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage stress and maintain professional relationships across stakeholder groups.
