About the Role
We are seeking two skilled Medical Officers to join the Trauma & Emergency Unit at General Justice Gizenga Mpanza Regional Hospital. This role is essential in ensuring patient-centred care within a busy emergency setting. Candidates will be responsible for clinical oversight, emergency procedures, diagnostics, and mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality emergency medical care
- Examine, diagnose, and manage patients in the Emergency Department
- Maintain accurate medical records in line with ethical and legal standards
- Assist senior staff in the daily operations of the Emergency Unit
- Participate in departmental activities (journal clubs, case presentations, etc.)
- Train nurses, interns, junior doctors, and medical students
- Comply with hospital policies and clinical governance standards

- Daily supervision by an Emergency Physician
- Hands-on training in ultrasound, airway management, evidence-based emergency care
- Research opportunities
- Preparation for Diploma in Emergency Care (Dip PEC) and Fellowship in Emergency Medicine
Requirements
- MBCHB or equivalent medical qualification
- Must be registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Practitioner
- Grade 1: No post-registration experience required
- Grade 2: Minimum 5 years post-registration experience
- Grade 3: Minimum 10 years post-registration experience
- Completion of ACLS, PALS, ATLS, or a Diploma in Primary Care is strongly recommended
