About the Role:
The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development is seeking a highly skilled Legal Administrative Officer (MR5) to provide legal services, contract management, and litigation support within the department.
The role will involve advising on legal matters, assisting with legal actions, and providing training on relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Negotiate, draft, and provide legal editing services for contracts, tenders, and agreements
- Render legal advisory services to the department
- Provide legal support in actions involving the department
- Assist in capacitating departmental components on essential legislation
- Monitor compliance with legal and statutory requirements
Requirements:
- LLB degree and admission as an attorney
- 8 years of post-qualification legal experience
- Valid driver’s license
Knowledge & Skills:
- RSA Constitution, PFMA, Public Service Act & Regulations
- Legal Procedures, Labour Relations Act, Batho Pele Principles
- Promotion of Access to Information Act, Protection of Personal Information Act
- Civil Law, Labour Law, Contract Law
- Departmental Business Processes and Human Resource Policies
- Change Management, Legal Research
- Contract drafting and legislative drafting
- Litigation management and legal advisory
- Financial management and policy analysis
- Strong problem-solving, time management, and decision-making abilities
- Effective communication (written and verbal), negotiation, and conflict resolution
- Project planning and leadership
- Well-developed research, analytical, and presentation skills
